The Parliamentary Committee on National Economy led by Hon. Ikojo John Bosco visited the African Centre of Excellence in Agroecology and Livelihood Systems (ACALISE) at Uganda Martyrs University; which is financed by the Government of Uganda through a World Bank loan (ACE II Project). Like other loans for Government supported activities, the Parliament of Uganda approved the loan to ACALISE at Uganda Martyrs University and other centers of excellence in Uganda. The Committee visit on 15th April, 2023 was to assess whether the funds were put to good use as per the project mandate.
The Committee was impressed by the innovations which emerged from research supported by the Center, farm equipment procured and the mini laboratory which was setup. The Committee applauded the UMU-ACE Radio and the Post Graduate Hostel procured by the Centre. ACALISE expressed its eagerness for a renewal of the funding to ensure significant impact for the various activities it embarked on.
