The Projects Budget Monitoring Team of the Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development visited the African Centre of Excellence in Agro – Ecology and Livelihood Systems (ACALISE) at Uganda Martyrs University main campus, Nkozi on the 17th February, 2023 to check on the overall progress of the ACE II Project.
The Budget Team commended ACALISE for the significant achievements registered during the project period amidst several challenges including the onset of the COVID Pandemic.
Dr. Jude Ssebuwufu (Director, ACALISE) presented among other things the project success stories, lessons learnt while implementing the project, challenges faced during the project implementation and strategies envisioned to complete the project.
Dr. Ssemakula Joseph (PI, ACALISE) mentioned the different partnerships both at the national and international level that have immensely helped to achieve the objectives of the Project especially in research, innovations and dissemination of knowledge to the local farmers hence transforming their livelihoods.
The team concluded their visit by touring some of the activities undertaken by ACALISE which included but not limited to: the UMU Radio, Graduate Students Hostel, Feed Mills, Entomology Laboratory at the Faculty of Agriculture and the Poultry enterprise.
